CAPACITOR

Capacitor is a passive electronic component that is used to store electrical charge for short time. In capacitors, the energy is stored in the form of holding electrons(electric charges) in an electric field. It is used in the process of storing short term electricity, filtering, rectifying circuits & compensation. It consists of two (conductive) metal plates separated by insulating material known as dielectric. The dielectric materials may be paper, glass, metal film, mica, air, vacuum etc.

INDUCTOR

Inductor is a passive electronic component that stores the energy in the form of a magnetic field when electric current flows through it. Just like resistor that opposes the flow of current, an inductor opposes the change in flow of current.

TRANSISTOR

Transistor is a three teminal semiconductor device that acts as switch and amplifier. Transistor is derived from two words ‘transfer’ and ‘resistor’ because it transfers the resistance from one end of the device to the other.
